Imagine that you are preparing a project with your friend. You have found some interesting material for the presentation and you want to read this text to your friend. You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to read it out aloud. You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it.
Work-related accidents and illnesses have a higher mortality rate than alcohol, drugs, or war, with around two million people dying each year. The most dangerous professions are those in agriculture, mining, and construction, followed by fishing and airplane pilot jobs. The last one is more dangerous for pilots of small planes, not commercial jets. Murder was the third leading cause of death in all professions, with 50 police officers killed. The main professions affected by falls are roofers and structural-metal workers. Most on-the-job deaths were caused by car accidents, even though police officers were more at risk from car accidents than homicides. The Duckworth scale can calculate the risk of death associated with various activities, with safe activities scoring zero and activities with eight scores being inescapably fatal.
